Strategic consulting
The product got you here. Strategy decides where you go next.
Every organisation is being told to adopt AI. Almost none are told where it actually pays, what it puts at risk, or in what order to build. We sit on your side of the table and answer that — the use cases worth funding, the roadmap that sequences them, and the transformation your operating model can absorb. For a single decision, or every one of them.

The short answer
What is MVP1's strategic consulting?
Strategic consulting is operator-led guidance on where artificial intelligence and digital transformation genuinely create value in an organisation, and in what order to pursue them. MVP1 Ventures advises on AI strategy, use-case discovery and prioritisation, AI roadmaps, data and AI readiness, growth and scale strategy, and the transformation of operating models.
Engagements run as a focused advisory sprint for a single decision, as ongoing fractional strategy, or as a board seat, fractional CIO or fractional CTO retainer. Organisations of any size and any sector are in scope — this is not gated to software companies or to a revenue band.
This is strategy and technology consulting only. MVP1 Ventures is not a venture capital fund, and does not provide financial, investment, capital-raising or securities advice of any kind. Where a decision needs that input it belongs with a licensed professional, and we will say so rather than stray outside what we do.
The scope of this practice
Strategy and technology consulting, plainly stated.
What this is
Strategy and technology consulting. We help leadership teams think through AI, digital transformation, and growth decisions, and bring in outside expertise where a call needs it.
What this is not
MVP1 Ventures is not a venture capital fund. We do not provide financial advice, investment advice, capital-raising advice, or advice on securities. Where a decision needs a licensed financial adviser, lawyer, or accountant, we refer you to one, we don't make that call ourselves.
The tension
Everyone has an AI opinion. Almost nobody has an AI plan.
Adopting technology is no longer the hard part. Deciding what to adopt, in what order, and what it does to the way your organisation actually runs — that is where leaders get stuck.
The questions change. They stop being about tools and start being about sequence, capability, and risk. Which processes should agents run, and which should never leave a human? Is your data in a state where any of this works? What does the operating model look like afterwards, and can your team absorb it? What happens to the roles you already have?
Most organisations answer these from a vendor's slide deck, or from a pilot that was never designed to scale. That is how AI budgets get spent on proofs of concept that never reach production.
You don't need a lecture on what AI could do. You need an operator who has built and run this technology telling you what it will do here, in your organisation, and what to do first.
What this is
Consulting built by operators, not by a practice deck.
This is strategic and technology consulting. We help you make the highest-stakes decisions about AI, growth and transformation with clarity, evidence and conviction — the decisions that shape what your organisation looks like in three years.
We tell you what we think, including when the answer is "not yet," "not this use case," or "your data isn't ready and no roadmap fixes that first." No hedging. Just the call we'd make if it were our own organisation.
And we don't parachute out after the strategy document. Bring us in for a single decision, embed us as your fractional strategy partner, or hand us a board seat, a fractional CIO or a fractional CTO mandate. The depth is yours to set.
What we advise on
The decisions we're built for.
AI strategy
Cut through the hype and decide where AI actually pays. We map the opportunity, the risk, and the commercial case — so the spend follows the return rather than the trend.
AI use-case discovery & prioritisation
Not every process should be automated. We find the ones where agents change the economics, rank them by return and feasibility, and tell you which to leave alone.
AI roadmaps & sequencing
The order matters more than the ambition. We sequence the build so each stage earns the next — from first automation through to agentic operations.
Digital transformation
Technology is the easy half. We redesign the process, the systems and the operating model around it, so the change holds after the project team leaves.
Growth & scale strategy
Where to point effort for the highest return. We map the growth bets, the operating economics, and the model that turns activity into a defensible, compounding business.
Data & AI readiness
Most AI programmes fail on data, not models. We assess your data, systems and governance, and tell you what has to be true before anything else is worth building.
Board seats, fractional CIO & CTO
Senior technology leadership, embedded. Jay takes a board seat or serves as your fractional CIO or CTO on a paid retainer — steering AI, technology and transformation decisions between the big moments, not just at them. Accountable for the outcome, not just the advice.
This engagement covers strategy and roadmap. Where the answer is private, sovereign AI infrastructure, that work sits with our enterprise venture BlackVault (opens in a new tab) rather than here. Where it is a build, our product engineering and AI agents teams pick it up.
Who it's for
Built for leaders who have to decide.
This is for you if
- You lead an organisation of any size that needs a clear, commercial AI strategy — not hype.
- You are weighing an AI programme, a transformation, or a growth bet, and the decision is too big to get wrong.
- You have run a pilot that worked in a demo and stalled on the way to production.
- You want an operator's judgement, not a consultant's slide deck.
- You value a straight answer over a comfortable one.
Size and sector are no barrier — we advise startups, SMBs, enterprise and government on AI and transformation strategy. If what you actually need is the commercial case for a new venture tested before you build, start with the Commercial Opportunity Assessment instead.
Why MVP1
We've made these calls in our own business.
We don't advise from theory. We build, scale and operate software and AI systems — including our own. We have taken products from idea to revenue, automated our own operations, and lived every decision we'll help you make.
That's the difference. Your advisors should have built the thing they're advising you on.
- Operators, not commentators — we've built and run AI systems in production, not just written about them.
- Vendor-neutral — we have no software licences to resell and no platform quota to hit.
- Direct — we tell you what we think, including when the answer is don't.
- Commercially driven — every recommendation ties to margin, capacity or capability.
How we work
Sharp engagements, clear outcomes.
Start with a strategy call
We map your situation, your goal, and the decision in front of you — and tell you straight whether we can move the needle.
Scope the engagement
A focused advisory sprint for a single decision. Ongoing fractional strategy for a leader navigating a transformation or an AI shift. Or a board seat, fractional CIO or fractional CTO retainer when you want us accountable for the outcome. Defined scope, defined outcomes.
Get the call — and the plan to execute it
You leave with a clear decision, the evidence behind it, and the roadmap to act. And when execution needs product, AI or go-to-market firepower, the full MVP1 team is already behind you.
Straight answers
Questions leaders actually ask.
Do you provide financial, investment or capital-raising advice?
No. This is strategy and technology consulting. We advise on AI, technology, growth and transformation decisions. We do not provide financial product advice, investment advice, valuation opinions or capital-raising services, and we are not licensed to. Where a decision needs that input, take it to your accountant, your corporate adviser or a licensed professional — and we will say so rather than stray outside what we do.
Is MVP1 Ventures a venture capital fund?
No. MVP1 Ventures is a product engineering, AI and consulting business. We are not a fund, we do not manage outside capital, and we hold no investment portfolio. We are sometimes mistaken for one because of the name.
What size organisation do you work with?
Any size. AI and transformation strategy is not gated to a revenue band or a sector — we advise startups, SMBs, enterprise and government. What matters is that someone in the room can make a decision and act on it.
Can you take a board seat, or act as our fractional CIO or CTO?
Yes. Jay takes board seats and fractional CIO or CTO mandates on a paid retainer basis, steering AI, technology and transformation decisions between the big moments rather than only at them. That engagement makes us accountable for the outcome, not just the advice.
Does this include building the AI systems?
This engagement covers the strategy and the roadmap — where AI pays, what it risks, and in what order to build. Execution follows through our product engineering and AI agent teams if you want it to. Where the answer is private, sovereign AI infrastructure, that work belongs to our enterprise venture BlackVault rather than to this engagement, and we will say so plainly rather than sell you something we shouldn't.
How are engagements structured?
Three ways, and you set the depth. A focused advisory sprint for a single decision. Ongoing fractional strategy for a leader navigating a transformation or an AI shift. Or a board seat, fractional CIO or fractional CTO retainer. Every engagement has a defined scope and defined outcomes agreed before it starts.
What happens if you think we shouldn't proceed?
We say so. We tell you what we think, including when the answer is not yet, not this use case, or your data isn't ready and no roadmap fixes that first. You are paying for the judgement, not for agreement — and a straight answer you didn't want is worth considerably more than a comfortable one that costs you two years.
When strategy needs execution
The decision is one thing. Acting on it is another.
Consulting sits alongside the teams that deliver. When a call needs building, automating or taking to market, the work does not have to go outside.
Product engineering
Production-grade builds, re-architecture and platform stabilisation — plus the ongoing support that keeps it running.
AI agents & automation
Work redesigned so agents run it end to end, wired into the systems you already use, with your team signing off.
Go-to-market
A complete go-to-market function run as one engine — strategy, CRM, content, campaigns and reporting.

The next decision is the one that matters.
Don't make it alone. Bring in an operator who has already built what you're deciding about.
